Rosalind's Doggy Page

It was a sad day for Ros when we said our goodbyes to the dog table & Dave at Charlton Antiques, Dave & Gareth have been excellent with putting out the dog table every day, she really misses buying the items for the dog table & Dave telling her that he had another cheque to hand over to Ann at the rescue centre.

She knows that Devon will not have another Dave & the dog table was a real success in Malvern but feels it would be a much harder to do the same down here even if there was another antique shop willing to do what Dave did with the trolley every day.

My wife Rosalind in her spare time has raised money for various Dog Charities.

Within 10 years raising the money she has raised over £4,500 pounds.

She used to out every Saturday & Sunday spending money at various Car Boot sales & Charity Shops looking for items which will go on what she called her dog table, she then spends time in the week labelling up the items with profits.

The dog table was made up ex Tea Trolley which is kindly wheeled out every day outside a Antiques shop in Great Malvern Town Centre.

The money raised would have not  have been achieved without the kindness of the shop owner Dave Roberts & his staff wheeling out the trolley on a daily basis & collecting the money taken from the items sold of the trolley.

Worcestershire Animal Rescue Centre is Rosalind's main Dog Charity.

Over the years she has collected for other Dog Charities, but when she lived in Malvern, she became more involved with raising money for this particular charity.

Sunday 25th September 2005

Rosalind & Dave arranged with Ben the new manager to hand over a Cheque for £900 pounds

Seen below with a new rescued dog called Chester.

The money raised took about 16months of hard work.

The sun was so strong unable to see the writing on the cheque so put the money raised on manually.

Dave organised a night at the Newtown Club on October 21st 2005 a fantastic night was had by all who attended music was excellent & a lot of people were dancing.

There were 2 live bands The Pontiacs & Rock of ages, Dave is lead guitarist & vocalist in The Pontiacs

£427 was raised which is going to the rescue shelter.

I must say a big thank you to the businesses in Malvern who made donations to the evening.

Ros went around with her begging bowl to the businesses & the donations are as follows.

Catalogue Bargain Shop in the Link donated Phillips MP3 512mb Player priced at £200 pounds this was auctioned on the night & was sold for £55 pounds which I am now the owner!

Waitrose Supermarket donated a bottle of white wine.

Sommerfield's in Barnards Green donated £5 Gift Voucher which was turned into a bottle of wine.

Dobson's in Barnards Green donated 6 wine glasses.

Bottles of wine were also donated from individuals on the night to many mention them all.

A Big Thank You to them also.

I am absolutely gutted I took lots of pictures with my digital camera for my web site but unfortunately due to operator error the card filled up without me realising.

The card  locked & I was unable to retrieve any of the photo's. I even went to Boots to see if I could drag them directly off my card but no joy.

Ros was presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers from Dave & Val which was a lovely touch.

Due to the problem with the card in the camera, I took pictures of the bouquet again when I got home.

This enclosed field, with beautiful views of the Malvern Hills, is now home to about twenty dogs in a purpose-built kennel block.

Money is also being raised to build a cattery as well.

The dedicated staff and their team of enthusiastic volunteers ensure that all the dogs are given individual attention with lots of exercise and love.

These are pictures of our own rescue dog called Biggles

Our faithful friend who past away on the 17.07.07 after reaching 17years old we miss him so much.

I know you should not have a favourite but he was such a special dog.

These are photo's of our new doggie we collected on Saturday 25th August we got him from Birmingham dogs home.

If we had written down a list of all the things we wanted in a doggie he ticks every box!

Biggles was a hard act to follow but he is doing really well to live up to him.

August 31st was another fund raising night put on by Dave Roberts with his band the Pontiacs, also on stage was Sound on sound who had just come back from a few gigs in the states.

Stefan played some modern sounds very well, Dave did a new few songs & came on as Boy Orbison a take off of Roy Orbison.

The evening was another great success they raised £350 pounds which included a raffle, Dave was also going to ask Ros to present a cheque to Ann from Worcester Animal Rescue Shelter for £350 which she had done from her dog table outside Dave's shop, unfortunately we had to leave early as it was the first time we left Beau on his own during the evening & we were worried about him.
